Our Mission

We are dedicated to fighting mental health and addiction stigma by raising awareness, smashing stereotypes, and creating a brave space for people surviving mental illness or addiction.

At the racetrack, in schools, workplaces, public spaces, and through our peer-led support groups, we cultivate Brave Spaces where anyone facing mental health and/or substance use challenges can find support, develop practical tools, and build the confidence to create lasting, meaningful change.

THE NEED

1. Mental health affects more than 1 in 5 Americans.

23.4% of U.S. adultsโ€”more than 61.5 million peopleโ€”experienced a mental illness in the past year. That means nearly everyone knows someone who is struggling, whether they realize it or not.

2. Mental health and addiction are deeply connected.

Nearly half (45.8%) of adults with a substance use disorder also have a mental illness. Treating one without addressing the other often leaves people without the support they need to recover.

3. Millions who need help never receive it.

Among the 21.2 million adults with both a mental illness and substance use disorder, 41.2% received neither mental health treatment nor addiction treatment, and only 14.5% received treatment for both conditions. That’s a massive gapโ€”and one that community organizations like Remix Recovery help bridge by reducing stigma, fostering connection, and creating pathways to care.

Why Remix Recovery Matters

Mental health challenges and addiction affect millions of Americans, yet far too many people suffer in silence or never receive the support they need. At Remix Recovery, we’re working to change that by creating Brave Spaces where conversations become connections, stigma gives way to hope, and recovery becomes possible.

OUR PROGRAMS

Join our peer-led support groups, facilitated by certified peer support specialists, inspired by the principles highlighted in our book, Remix Recovery: Leading a Brave Space. Together, we’re building a network of Brave Spaces where people can connect in a stigma-free, judgement-free environment, embrace their authentic selves, and find hope, healing, and community.

Our race team is proving that bravery isn’t just measured by speedโ€”it’s measured by the willingness to ask for help. On and off the track, our race team is breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and addiction by showing that strength comes from vulnerability, connection, and leaning on those we trust. Led by Jeremy Taubman, racer #417 in the MotoAmerica Super Hooligan National Championship, Remix Racing is driving a movement that normalizes conversations about mental health and recovery throughout the motorcycling community and beyond.

Through powerful presentations to children and young adults, Hailey Makinson shares her inspiring journey of overcoming adversity to build a life of purpose and success. By candidly sharing the lessons, resilience, and mindset that transformed her life, she empowers young people to believe in themselves, overcome life’s challenges, and recognize that their circumstances do not define their future.
